They say if there was ever a person who could wear the extravagant, Madonna-inspired Christian Lacroix wedding gown, and still look good in it, that person would probably be Dita Von Teese. A burlesque dancer who slowly made a name for herself in the realm of fashion for her ‘45s impeccable style, Dita is the celebrity featured in the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar, JustJared informs.

The shoot took place over the weekend in Paris, in between breaks from promoting her latest lingerie line for Wonderbra and attending fashion shows. From the pictures made available until this time, it seems the photospread will focus on two aspects of Dita’s public persona, that of sinner and saint, both illustrated by means of outfits – of course – and the poses the model strikes.

Some shots see Dita leaning against a bicycle on a typically Parisian street. She’s wearing a black jacket, which looks on her as if she took it from a man. As she puts one leg up to better balance herself on her towering heels, her white thigh comes out of the jacket. Suspenders and brassiere in plain sight, Dita thus becomes the perfect example of “sinner” – which only becomes more obvious if compared to the photos in which she’s dressed as a bride.

And this brings us to the outrageous Lacroix creation. It’s nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful, with its colored roses and angelic, white headscarf that hints at the Madonnas taken out on the streets during Spanish processions. Dita too does her best to “fit” the dress: her arrogance of before is gone, her head is tilted to the side, and she’s holding one hand up to her face as she’s gazing into the emptiness with beady eyes. Clearly, the duality is obvious here.

Dita Von Teese is all about appearance and make-believe, as she was saying so herself not long ago. She is a woman who has completely reinvented herself because she learned long ago that she would never be pretty in just jeans and a T-shirt. She is a woman who has to put on an act in order to feel beautiful, and who lives through the art that is fashion.
