Season 3 American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino has been rushed to the hospital a few hours ago after overdosing, in what the police have already filed as a suicide attempt. Coincidentally or not, it’s just days that Fantasia has been named in divorce court papers as the third party that contributed to the dissolution of marriage by having an affair with the man.
As soon as word of the hospitalization got out in the media, Fantasia’s manager went in rumor control mode, saying she’d ODed accidentally on aspirin and sleeping pills,
People informs.
Being exhausted and dehydrated also contributed to her unexpected visit to the ER, he says, thus partly denying reports that the singer tried to take her own life.
Still, that doesn’t change the fact that police are treating the case as a suicide attempt, the aforementioned magazine notes.
“According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident was classified as a suicide attempt. The police report lists Dickens as the reporting person and says Barrino was found with ‘possible internal injuries’,” People writes.
Avoiding the question of whether she tried to kill herself, the singer’s manager says she’s now in stable condition and is looking forward to be allowed to go home.
“Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon,” the manager explains.
This is nothing but a minor obstacle. “Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured. Fantasia will be stronger, smarter and better for it. Fantasia sends her praise to God and her eternal gratitude to her fans, friends, and family,” the same manager adds.
As Fantasia’s name appeared in court papers, with allegations even saying that there was video evidence of the affair she had with the man, she issued a statement to set the record straight.
She was told – and believed – that the man was unhappy in his marriage and, consequently, was no longer living with his wife for many months.
Still, Fantasia apologized for whatever harm she may have inflicted on another person, adding she never meant to become involved with a married man and to cause his wife this much heartbreak.
“[Fantasia is] heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused. Yesterday she was totally overwhelmed with the lawsuit and the media attention,” her rep said the other day.
