Last year, Anonymous hackers set their sights on the Singapore government because of a controversial Internet licensing framework. In order to protect its networks against such attacks, authorities in Singapore are teaming up with IT security firm FireEye.

According to Channel News Asia, the announcement was made on Wednesday during the inauguration of FireEye’s Center of Excellence in Singapore.

Over the past year, the company has been working with the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) on a plan to open a new cyber security center.

Over the next two years, FireEye will hire over 100 cyber security experts for the center that will be in charge with providing intelligence, detecting threats and responding to attacks.

FireEye, in collaboration with infocommunications companies and universities, will develop the necessary solutions to combat the threats.

It’s worth noting that in Anonymous’ recent campaign, IDA was one of the main targets, but the hacktivists didn’t manage to breach the organization’s systems.
