KrisWorld, Singapore Airlines' in-flight entertainment system, will support iPod and iPhone connectivity starting this August, according to the Daily News. Updated KrisWorld systems will be available with newly reconfigured, all-Business Class Airbus A340-500 flights between New York and Singapore, but also between LA and Singapore.

"Customers on our all-business class Airbus A340-500 flights now have an incredible way to enjoy their own iPod and iPhone music and video on the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system," said Yap Kim Wah, Senior Vice-President Product & Services, for Singapore Airlines. "This is yet another example of our philosophy of creating customer satisfaction by providing an enhanced sense of choice and control."

"The iPod is the world's most popular digital music player and iPhone is a revolutionary mobile device, and they have become essential for millions of travelers," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of iPod & iPhone Product Marketing. "Singapore Airlines' customers can now enjoy their music, TV shows and movies on their iPod and iPhone through the in-flight entertainment system."

KrisWorld sports an integrated 9-pin connection as well as a unique in-flight cable that supports iPod and iPhone via their respective 30-pin connectors. Also included is the in-seat power supply and "high quality audio" equipment, which also lets iPod/iPhone owners listen to announcements and instructions coming from the Singapore Airlines cabin crew and pilots. Even better news for iPhone owners, as they will be able to take advantage of iPhone's airplane mode to safely use the iPhone's features through the integrated system.

Singapore Airlines' KrisWorld offers the following content, by default: 100 Movies; 180 Popular TV Programs; 700 Music CDs; 3D Games - Singapore Airlines is the first airline in the world to offer this, according to Wikipedia; Nintendo Games, USB flash drive plug-in and Ethernet; LED flash light under the PTV in Economy Class for non-intrusive light; and Linux Office software in every seat.

A new handset has been added lately (First and Business Classes get a color screen handset), with a new User Interface also being implemented.
