Quite a rapid shot

The first age-restricted video game peripheral will be launched by Innex at E3, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. The Rapid Shot is modeled after the well-known Heckler and Koch MP5 sub-machine gun and can act as a Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Wii Motion Plus at the same time, enabling its owner to just point and shoot at the screen. Moreover, batteries are held in the ammunition clip to add a touch of realism to the already impressive looks of the Rapid Shot.

This comes after a recent poll done by the Pew Internet and American Life Project that indicated that more than half of North American adults were gamers and that they did actively buy peripherals for their consoles. Titi Ngoy, the president of Innex, has declared that, “Video games aren't just for kids anymore. Graphics and stories are much more intense and mature than ever before. It's about time a video game company delivered a realistic accessory to match that intensity.”

The accessory will be promoted with the tag line “You grew up. Isn't it time your accessories did?” and Innex has decided to put up an age rating on the gadget's box. While it does also have a deal with ESRB, the American non-profit organization that handles parental guidance for entertainment software, Innex, will use its own internal rating system on the Rapid Shot's packaging. It will have a clear mark stating it is for mature gamers only, so that parents and retailers be well informed.

Innex will be showing off the Rapid Shot at this year's E3 at its booth, with public, live game demonstrations. This is not the first kind of gun peripheral Komodo has designed, as the BuckShot, a controller modeled after a shotgun, was released last year. It was well reviewed, actually, because of the solid feel, the quality of the materials and its precision, so gun fans can be excited about the Rapid Shot.
