In case you were wondering when EA was going to release a new Sims expansion and make us (OK, the girls, especially) spend even more money, the answer is simple. Or the same, we could say: soon. And in this case, soon means the 22nd of August this year - that's the moment when the Sims 2 Apartment Life expansion is made available for the PCs and the Apartment Pets is released for the DS consoles.

First, let's check a few details about the Apartment Life expansion for the owners of a Sims 2 copy (not any copy, though, since you will need The Sims 2 Double Deluxe, The Sims 2 Deluxe, The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition, or The Sims 2 Holiday Edition in order to enjoy it). So, this time, your Sims will be taken into a busy apartment building. Adventure, fun, and drama await them as they explore the new neighborhood - and it's up to you to decide whether they should live a happy life or not, since the expansion will offer you the possibility to control multiple households.

In what is probably a teaser to what we're going to receive with The Sims 3, we also get a new reputation meter, which helps us achieve our goals (or completely blocks us from achieving them if it is too low). As expected, together with these small new tweaks, players will also get a bunch of new items to customize their apartments and a few more character types to socialize with.

The Sims 2 Apartment Pets for Nintendo DS will allow players to care for a variety of pets, while earning simoleans to buy pet accessories and toys. Also, expect a host of new minigames and unlockables!

"The Sims 2 Apartment Life and The Sims 2 Apartment Pets are two new entertainment experiences that put your Sims in the midst of all the drama and humour of busy apartment life," said Rod Humble, Head of Studio for The Sims Label. "These two games reflect an aspect of real life that players can relate to, and now for the first time, their Sims can explore that same lifestyle in The Sims 2 Apartment Life on the PC and make pets part of the fun in The Sims 2 Apartment Pets for the Nintendo DS."
