MEPIS LLC has announced, through Warren Woodford, the release of SimplyMEPIS 8.0, a Debian 5.0 (Lenny) based Linux distribution for both 32- and 64-bit processor architectures. Using the stable Debian foundation with an enhanced Long Term Support kernel, important package upgrades and many applications, SimplyMEPIS 8.0 is a complete desktop solution.

"Debian, which is renowned for its stability and live cycle support, released Lenny a week ago as the latest version of Debian. By building on this excellent upstream base, we expect MEPIS 8.0 to enjoy a long life as a personal and business desktop system. MEPIS is using this kernel to insure that the latest security and support patches are available to MEPIS 8.0 users.", said Warren Woodford in the official release announcement.
