SimplyMEPIS 8.0.15 Is Ready for Download

MEPIS LLC, through Warren Woodford, announced yesterday, January 12th, the immediate availability for download of the SimplyMEPIS 8.0.15 operating system, for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. This is a maintenance update to the stable branch of SimplyMEPIS and it includes Linux kernel 2.6.27.43, KDE 3.5.10, OpenOffice.org 3.1.1, Mozilla Firefox 3.5.6 and many other updated components. SimplyMEPIS 8.0.15 is based on the stable release of Debian Lenny and it includes all the security updates to date.

Moreover, reliability and compatibility with the following packages have been improved in SimplyMEPIS 8.0.15: nvidia 185.18.36-2, nvidia-legacy 96.43.13, acpi-support 0.132, wl-modules 5.10.91.9.3, klibc 1.5.1.5, hwinfo 16.0-2, hwdata 0.225-1 and initramfs-tools 0.93.4. And a bug has been fixed in the installer, which made SimplyMEPIS omit other installed operating systems on the machine. Last but not least, the mepis-init, mepis-config and mepis-xconfig scripts have been improved.
