Simplicity Linux, a Linux distribution based on Puppy and which uses the LXDE desktop, is now at version 13.7 Beta.

The Beta version of Simplicity Linux has a lot of new features implemented and some of them are rather profound.

“The biggest change we’ve made from Simplicity Desktop 13.7 between Alpha and Beta is we have officially moved from Carolina Linux as our base to LXPup.

“We like Xfce, we’ve been using it for a LONG time, but we think that LXDE is a better window manager, and if nothing else, it’s more energy efficient. We’ve also made some changes to the ACPI stuff behind the scenes, compared to standard LXPup,” reads the official announcement.

A complete list of changes can be found in the announcement. Download Simplicity Linux 13.7 Beta right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
