Wireless carrier T-Mobile USA and Simple Mobile have recently announced the signing of a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (“MVNO”) deal through which the latter will benefit from access to T-Mobile USA’s robust nationwide. Moreover, Simple Mobile also stated that the new deal enabled it to deliver voice, text and data service to all of its customers.
In case there are some of you who might not know, we should mention that Simple Mobile has launched its nationwide services on November 21, 2009. The company offers users the possibility to enjoy unlimited talk and text for only $40 per month, and also has two data plans in place for them, including a $10 for 50 MB of data plan and a $20 for 150 MB of data option. Both of these offerings are based on the use of T-Mobile USA’s high-speed 3G data network.
“Simple Mobile has launched its service at a time when the unlimited—no contract talk, text and data segment is rapidly expanding in the U.S. market. Through our MVNO relationship, we are capturing a growing portion of this important segment and placing them on T-Mobile USA’s network as wholesale subscribers,” said Richard Wong, VP of Strategic Alliances for Simple Mobile.
According to Simple Mobile, it already managed to build a substantial distribution footprint in the country during the four months that have passed since the launch of its services. The company has already partnered with a great deal of prepaid distributors, which have been selling Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket and Virgin Mobile products.
“Simple Mobile represents a very attractive product alternative to these distributors because of the simplicity and flexibility of a SIM-based GSM product (versus CDMA). Also, Simple Mobile encourages customers to “bring your own phone” (“BYOP”), an offer that is resonating with wireless retailers and customers. Simple Mobile also states that it will be launching BlackBerry and mobile broadband service in the near future, further expanding its product breadth to reach this data-savvy segment,” the carrier notes.
