British actor Simon Pegg is a known enthusiast of the Star Wars franchise, which is why when the latest movie was announced to be filmed in the UK, reporters asked him if he had any plans to star.

At the time, Pegg dismissed the possibility by saying, “I don't think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting. I wouldn't want to be popped out of the film by a knowing cameo. I think it would be great to do it properly.”

Now, reports indicate that the actor did land a secret role in the movie directed by J.J. Abrams and actually flew out to the desert in Abu Dhabi where filming on the project is currently taking place to shoot his scenes.

Details about his participation are being kept under wraps, but the insider who leaked the story to IGN Middle East claims that Pegg has already finished filming his part, indicating that it was a small role, possibly a cameo appearance. If this is so, it’s being kept as a surprise for the day of the premiere.

Apart from the members of the cast in the original movie, which include Harrison Ford, Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher, new faces have been added to the line-up. Most recently, actresses Lupita Nyong’o from “12 Years a Slave” and Gwendoline Christie from “Game of Thrones” have been confirmed to appear.
