Until some months ago, they were inseparable: good friends and even better business associates, it seemed that nothing could come in between Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole. And then, the US version of X Factor happened. After Cheryl was fired from the show after just 5 days, when Fox executives decided she would not fare well with American audiences, Simon gave up on trying to make peace with her.
He had a couple of attempts to talk to her but, when he saw that she wouldn’t pick up his calls or answer his messages, he lost interest.
Now they’re both in Los Angeles but neither has any interest in meeting to talk about what happened. It’s like they were never that close to begin with, sources are saying for the
Daily Mail.
“They have both moved on with their lives. She hasn’t spoken to him and they have no plans to see each other in America,” a spy says.
“Cheryl is the last person on Simon Cowell’s mind at the moment. The party line if anyone in Simon’s group of friends is asked about her is to say, ‘Cheryl is still a star’,” adds the insider.
Apparently, the fact that Cheryl got back with her cheating ex-husband, Ashely Cole, did not sit well with Simon who, some time ago, told her that she must ditch him if she wanted to enjoy a successful career in the US.
“He doesn’t want to talk about Cheryl and they know not to bring her name up. He will never openly criticize her but there is no relationship between them now,” the insider further says.
Of course, Cowell has other things to focus on right now. Word in the blogosphere has it that a single episode of the brand new X Factor costs no less than $3.5 million to make, which means there’s a lot of pressure on Cowell to deliver a hit show, perhaps an even bigger hit than American Idol.
