Eric Cowell, Simon Cowell's son, was born on Valentine's Day in New York City, and the doting father flew in all the way from London on a private jet he had standing by for over a week, when he got word that girlfriend Lauren Silverman had gone into labor.

After making it just in time to witness the birth of his first child, baby boy Eric, Simon tweeted his excitement, adding that both mother and newborn were “in great shape.” Understandably, the new father was very proud, and it didn't take long for him to reveal the baby's name to the press.

It had been previously speculated that Simon would name his first born after himself. Granted, Simon might have fueled those rumors himself, but after the arrival of his son, he confirmed that he would name him after his late father, Eric, who died in 1999 of a heart attack at the age of 81.

Now, Simon is already sharing the first pictures of Eric on his Twitter account, in a photo that looks beautiful enough to frame. A black and white shot featuring a caring Simon depicts baby Eric being cradled by his father, who is softly caressing his head.

The photo is accompanied by the words “I never knew how much love and pride I would feel” from gushing Simon.

Just days old, Eric is already being praised for his good looks by Simon who calls him “handsome.” This is very untypical behavior for Simon, who has been nicknamed “Mr. Nasty” by the media for his often acid remarks and brazen personality.

But the usually tough Simon went even further, reportedly crying tears of joy at the birth of his first child on Valentine's Day. He told Lauren “This is the happiest day of my life.”

It's now being reported that the music mogul is going to spend a couple of days with Lauren and baby Eric before returning to London, where he's currently involved in the Britain's Got Talent auditions.
