The strangest thing happened on the season finale of Britain’s Got Talent last night, when a woman rushed on stage in the middle of the performance of opera singers Richard and Adam Johnson and started throwing eggs at the judges – at Simon Cowell, in particular.

A low-quality video of the incident is below, embedded at the end of this article.

Online photos of the woman, later identified as former BGT contestant violist Natalie Holt (she was on the show in the previous season), show that she was laughing while pelting the judges with eggs.

Simon too dealt with the incident with humor even though he was the primary target. After Holt was escorted off the stage by security, he said he’d thought the egging was “part of the act.”

“I thought it was part of the act, I thought they were throwing sandwiches,” he said. The impression was probably caused by the fact that the two brothers, Richard and Adam, didn’t even blink when Holt rushed in, in the middle of their performance.

Even though only Cowell was hit by the eggs – and had to remove his coat because of it –, it was Amanda Holden who was most upset, the Daily Mail writes.

Speaking against Holt for choosing such a stupid form of protest, if that’s what it was, Holden branded her a “stupid cow.”

After the identity of the egg thrower was revealed to the public, she issued a statement through BGT organizers apologizing for her senseless act.

“I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I’ve never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do,” Holt says.

On Twitter, her bandmates from the Raven Quartet, with whom she was featured on the show, say they had no idea she would do such a “silly thing.”
