Indian company Simmtronics has just announced the immediate availability of its affordable XPAD X-801 tablet.

AndroidOS reports that the slate offers voice calling for only Rs 8,499 ($155/€130) but, sadly, is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

As the title says, the XPAD X-801 sports an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 600 pixels resolution. On the inside, the slate packs a single-core ARM Cortex A8 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.

Furthermore, the tablet features a 2-megapixel rear photo snapper, a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls, 512MB of RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion, and a 4,000 mAh Li-Ion battery that has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

According to Simtronics, the XPAD X-801 can be purchased via major retailers across the country.
