Electronic Arts has issued a sad announcement for Mac users eagerly anticipating the OS X version of SimCity. Apparently it’s being delayed, yet again.

In a post on the SimCity blog, Senior Producer Kip Katsarelis writes, “Today we are announcing that we are moving the release date of the Mac version of SimCity to August.”

Katsarelis explains that there was no other choice for the development team, as the experience is not ready for primetime.

“We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time,” reads the announcement.

Bad news aside, Electronic Arts plans to extend the availability of the SimCity Launch Park (released in Update 4) to all Mac owners who have ordered the game, “as a sincere thank you for patiently waiting to play,” says the company.

On the Windows PC front, EA is currently working on “a series of multiplayer and multi-city fixes and improvements” to be delivered in Update 5 soon.
