The development team at Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts announces that it will launch the 2.0 version of SimCity on Monday, April 22, introducing a huge number of fixes and gameplay changes to the game.

Mayors get access to new cars and helicopters and there are more ways to view relevant data linked to the cities that players create.

The Heads Up Display is also changed when used in color-blind mode.

The Maxis team states, "we wanted to inform you in advance that we’ll be taking down all servers for a few hours while these changes are being issued. Choosing a time to issue a major Update is never easy, but after looking our peak player time, we’ve concluded 1pm PST is the best window for us to make these improvements."

Update 2.0 for SimCity has been promised since the game was launched and the Maxis team has also re-introduced cheetah speed for the title.
