The development team at Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts seem very interested in letting the SimCity fan community know that the game can now be played entirely offline, and they have launched a short walkthrough video to explain exactly how it works.

After the deployment of Update 10, gamers no longer need to be connected in order to play the game, and the company has also introduced a number of changes linked to the overall performance and balance of the experience.

Offline mode means that a gamer can experience SimCity entirely on his own, although some of the core mechanics of the city builder were created to encourage social interactions and collaborations on big projects.

When the title was launched, both Maxis and Electronic Arts explained that it would be impossible to ever bring the experience entirely offline, but pressure from the community prompted them to start work on the idea.

SimCity offers some solid city-building mechanics, but the regions always felt too small for long-time fans of the franchise, and the game sometimes seemed arbitrary.

Since it was released, Maxis has added new content to the experience and has also launched an expansion that introduces futuristic concepts and buildings.
