Will Wright, the man behind hugely successful franchises like The Sims, SimCity, and many others, believes that the mistakes Electronic Arts made with the release of the new SimCity earlier this year are inexcusable.

Will Wright founded Maxis and, after creating many huge series, left the company in pursuit of his own aspirations.

Now, looking back at the latest Maxis project, SimCity, and its different problems caused by the troublesome mandatory online connection, Wright believes the mistakes made by publisher EA were inexcusable.

"That was basically inexcusable, that you charge somebody $60 for a game and they can't play it. I can understand the outrage. If I was a consumer buying the game and that happened to me, I'd feel the same," he told GamesIndustry.

Wright highlights that he feels bad for the team but also mentions that he did predict "there'd be a big backlash about the DRM stuff."

Even so, the designer enjoys SimCity and believes it's a good game, if you can get over the different problems related to the online requirement.
