They say love knows no age and, in the case of Silvio Berlusconi and his new fiancée, that definitely seems to be true. The 76-year-old former Italian Prime Minister has just officially confirmed he’s engaged to his 27-year-old girlfriend.

Though he’s not even divorced yet from his second wife, that doesn’t seem to be a problem for Mr. Berlusconi in proposing to the new lady in his life.

Moreover, he’s gone on the record with confirmation of the engagement, The Telegraph reports.

“Finally I feel less lonely. I am engaged to a Neapolitan, it's official,” the former Prime Minister of Italy and extremely controversial media mogul says.

“She is 27 years old, with very solid values, beautiful on the outside and even more beautiful on the inside,” Mr. Berlusconi goes on to say.

“She is very close to me, she loves me very much and I feel the same. My daughter Marina appreciates her and loves her very much too,” he adds.

Francesca worked on Berlusconi’s team and became friends with his oldest daughter, who is almost twice her age. Then, she met Silvio and reportedly fell head over heels in love.

The Telegraph notes that she has the reputation of a very jealous partner, who is constantly keeping tabs on her lover especially because she knows his reputation as a ladies’ man.

However, if she’s to take Silvio by his word, now that he has someone to share everything with, she should not worry about the infamous “bunga bunga” parties he used to throw: those were just a means to be distracted from feeling lonely.

“It was a time when I felt very lonely. I had just got divorced, my sister had died. Then someone said: ‘Why don't we organize some soirées?’ I was tricked,” he says.

Berlusconi is accused of paying a 17-year-old girl to sleep with him at one such “soirée.”
