80 Plus Gold power efficiency rating is normally something only found in power supplies intended for high-end computers, but SilverStone decided that mainstream customers shouldn't be left out.

So the company proceeded to create and launch the Strider Essential Gold series of power supply units.

All three of them, with outputs of 500W, 600W and 700W, respectively, have an efficiency high enough to earn 80 Plus Gold rating.

That means they have an efficiency of up to 88% at 20% load, 92% at 50% load, and 88% at 100% load.

The trio use 140 mm fans to keep heat at a manageable level, and said spinners have hybrid ceramic bearings and noise output of as low as 18 dBA.

Furthermore, the SilverStone Strider Essential Gold line of 80 Plus certified PSUs have modern PSU protection mechanisms: overvoltage, overcurrent, overload and short-circuit.

Finally, the newcomers all use a single +12V rail, active PFC (power factor correction) and have a 90V~264V AC input range. Unfortunately, the prices of the three newcomers have not been revealed, so we can't know for sure just how competitive they are. A shame, since affordability is supposed to be the main selling point for these SilverStone PSUs.
