Network-attached storage devices only have as much PC-like hardware inside as it takes to run the HDDs or SSDs installed on them, but SilverStone isn't satisfied with that.
So the company made a NAS server case that has room for a mini-ITX motherboard and everything that comes with it.
That means space for two PCI Express expansion slots (max video card length of 279 mm / 11 inches), three 120 mm fans (one back, two on the left), an SFX power supply compartment, and even CPU coolers of up to 57 mm / 2.24 inches in height.
Add to that the eight 3.5/2.5-inch drive bays (hot-swappable) and four “fixed” 2.5-inch bays and you have enough reason to wonder if the SilverStone DS380 should be used as a NAS case at all. If it wasn't for the sheer storage potential, it would be a better fit for HTPCs.
The price of the SilverStone DS380 case is €149.90 / $149.90 ($203.80 according to exchange rates). All in all, the product measures 211 x 285 x 360 mm / 8.30 x 11.22 x 14.17 inches.
