Last week, we wrote about how a Japanese kids’ show strongly suggested that Nintendo was set to remake two of the most interesting games in the Pokemon franchise: Silver and Gold.
The signs were balloons dangling over the heads of the show's presenters. Now, the
official Pokemon site, which, unfortunately for our need for details, is in Japanese, is listing entries for two games called Heart Gold and Soul Silver, which are set to arrive on the Japanese market during fall.
Apparently, Nintendo is following a strategy of slowly revealing fresh information on the two games. After this announcement on the Pokemon official site, it appears that the Japanese public will get access to fresh details in the upcoming edition of the Coro Coro Comic, which is a manga magazine that publishes Pokemon stories and news. If anyone is adventurous enough to translate the information for Western audiences, we'll be sure to relay it.
Nintendo has a history of updating Pokemon videogames. Leaf Green and Fire Red were remakes of Game Boy originals, quickly snapped up by those games who were interested in seeing what twist the publisher introduced and how the first generation Pokemons looked on the Game Boy Advance.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver will probably also prove best sellers, although much depends on what Nintendo chooses to change in the game themselves and on which new Pokemons are added.
The two fresh games, although ten years old, might be enough to keep fans of the franchise satisfied while the next game in the series is developed. We only know that the game will not be coming to the Nintendo Wii and that it will maintain the 2D style so popular at the moment. Nintendo has not announced a release date yet.
