Very small USB flash drive with a waterproof COB packaging

Silicon Power may not exactly be as 'talkative' as other storage solutions developers, but when it does take the microphone, it tends to turn heads not just through high capacities or speeds, but also through the aesthetic value it likes to confer upon its products. The latest of these products, the so-called Touch 851 Crystal Disk, definitely seems to achieve this goal, even though there are already a fair number of uniquely-constructed flash drives on the market.

The Touch 851 Crystal Disk, performance-wise, is not exactly exceptional. What this means is that it doesn't support the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard, settling, instead, for compatibility with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports. The real asset of this drive is, as some may have deduced by now, its actual build.

For one, the COB (Chip on Board) packaging allows it to cram up to 16GB of storage space inside an enclosure measuring just 31.6 x 16.4 x 6 mm. In itself, this is already a feat. The casing is composed of zinc alloy. Silicon Power didn't just limit itself to that though. In fact, it went ahead and implemented a diamond cut design, which it colored gold or silver. As for how the enclosure works, it boasts a retractable USB port. This will prevent wear and accidental damage to the connectors during those times when the device is not in use.

The Silicon Power Touch 851 is shock proof, vibration proof, waterproof and dustproof. Thus, one need not trouble one's self too much with the possibility of physically damaging it. Verily, chances are higher that the drive will be misplaced or outright lost because of its dimensions. Unfortunately, its maker has not revealed when and at what price the 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB models will debut, though it did mention they would all be backed by a one-year warranty.
