While SSDs do usually get more attention from consumers, flash-based memory cards are definitely not going by ignored, especially those ranked highest in terms of performance and capacity, as is the case with Silicon Power's latest model.

Memory cards come in various formats, like SD, SDHC, SDXC, microSD, microSDHC and CF.

Based on their size and performance, not to mention capacity, they are suited for mobile electronics (smartphones for instance), tablets, cameras and other such things.

CompactFlash cards are most suited for professional photographers that like to take high-speed continuous shots.

It is this very type of card that Silicon Power just come up with, one that is the most capacious 600x model it has created to date.

To be more specific, it has a capacity of 64 GB, a trait complemented by what can only be a very high transfer speed, of 90 MB/s.

The product is designed with the ATA interface and boasts built-in Error Correcting Code, along with 8-bit or 16-bit data transfer. Furthermore, PIO mode6 / MWDMA4 / UDMA6 is also supported.

All of the above are crammed inside a package that measures 36.4 mm x 42.8 mm x 3.3 mm and will fit into the CF slot of any compatible DSLR camera (or other device).

Silicon Power made sure its product would be able to last for 10,000 insertions at the least and optimized its power draw, leading to the need for a current of just 3.5V/5V.

Finally, the MTBF is of over 1,000,000 hours and RoHS compatibility is present, along with a lifetime warranty.

“This new card gives users almost unlimited freedom of making as many photo shots as they would like without worries about replacing the card at the last moment,” says the formal announcement.

Unfortunately, no sort of pricing details were given.
