Konami's surprise hit the PSP earlier due to unofficial donwloadable demos

We should have played Silent Hill Origins on the PSP, back at Konami's booth in Leipzig, at the Games Convention... Things did not go according to the company's plan, as it seems that the game's demo was made available earlier than it should, due to a leak. There's even a way to download the newest Silent Hill demo through your PSP's Internet browser.

Origins was developed by Climax and will be published by Konami, being the first SH title for the PSP. The game's developer can guarantee that the original code was not leaked from Climax, blaming Konami instead for this mishap. According to Karl Jeffrey, Climax CEO "The codes that is out there is fingerprinted and was supplied solely to Konami for marketing purposes".

I'm sure that the demo was not leaked on purpose, because Silent Hill is one of Konami's most famous series and they wouldn't spoil one of their trademark games (published or produced) by generating such a scandal. The official reports say that there are more than 1000 downloads of the demo right now, and the content can even be downloaded on the PSP, without having to use your PC for the "dirty job".

Silent Hill Origins will be released on November 6 and we hope that the full game won't be leaked earlier, as it happened with the demo version. In this entire illegal process, there is however a winning party: the SH fans, who have waited for the game for a long time. They may want to keep it clean and wait for a legal demo, but those downloads speak for themselves and the numbers are growing.

Maybe we'll see a MGS 4 or PES 2008 leak next time, but all of you, modders and console hackers, are not that lucky, considering that the security is pretty tight when it comes to blockbusters titles.
