A rare signed Beatles album is an item any music collector would love to own but, even so, having one copy sell at auction for $290,500 (€227,112) has managed to surpass even the most optimistic expectations.

The listing price was 10 times smaller than the one it went under the hammer for. Beatles expert Perry Cox notes that this was one of the most impressive Beatles memorabilia ever to go on sale.

“The iconic album was sold Saturday for $290,500 [€227,112] by Heritage Auctions in Dallas. It had been listed at $30,000 [€23,453] before the sale,” ABC News reports.

The identity of the buyer has not been revealed for the press.

“The autographs of the band members were obtained in 1967, the same year the record was issued, according to a letter of authenticity posted on Heritage Auctions' website,” the same media outlet writes.
