Sigma is well known among photography enthusiasts as one of the best lens manufacturers that provides high-quality optical solutions for digital SLR cameras.

Besides their popular lenses, Sigma also manufactures their own compact and DSLR cameras as well as flashes and other photo accessories.

According to SigmaRumors, the Nippon giant is about to enter the MFT (Micro Four Thirds) market sometime next year with their first interchangeable-lens camera.

This is a wise choice for Sigma, as the mirrorless camera market is on the rise and many manufacturers are focusing on this segment. Same rumors state that the new mirrorless model will be equipped with Sigma's Foveon sensor that was used on their SD9 to SD15 digital SLR cameras.

At the same time, Sigma's mirrorless camera would benefit from the wide range of MFT lenses already on the market, some of them manufactured by the Japanese company (like the Sigma 60mm f/2.8 DN lens).
