It’s no mystery that Sigma’s next-generation camera, the dp2 Quattro will make it out on the market this June, but fresh information revealed by a Belgian retail shows us what to expect from the camera.

Now Sigma-Rumors reports PCH has just introduced the upcoming Sigma dp2 Quattro after being the opportunity to make a camera comparison, providing us with a few extra info bits before the official unveiling.

According to them, the sharpness of the images snapped with the upcoming Sigma camera are comparable with the ones produced by the recently announced 51MP Pentax 645Z medium camera. The camera was introduced in April 2014.

Here’s what PCH has to say in a Facebook post which has been translated from French.

“When it comes to sheer image quality and sharpness, the Quattro looked equal to this 51MP medium format camera (Pentax 645Z).”

Furthermore, compared to the Nikon D800, the dp2 Quattro offers better micro-contrast and improved uniformity across the frame.

The Sigma dp2 Quattro was announced back in February; comes with 19.6MP Foveon sensor, two controls dials, a hotshoe; and has a F2.8 fixed focal length lens that offers a 45mm equivalent of view. The camera also has a maximum ISO of 6400 and a 3-inch rear LCD with a resolution of 920,000 pixels.
