Recently released, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens was very well received and already got outstanding results when placed side by side with similar rival lenses from Canon or Nikon.
In a recent test, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens mounted on a Nikon D7100 received the highest score possible thanks to its unrivaled optical performance that clearly outmatches its current competitors, including Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II XR VC LD Aspherical IF and Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED.
The lens has a very high sharpness level even when used wide open and it's only matched by another Sigma lens, the 50-150mm f/2.8.
According to SonyAlphaRumors, the new Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 lens for Sony A-mount digital SLRs will begin shipping to all customers that purchased it starting January 2014.
For the moment, the lens is available for pre-order through major photographic equipment retailers (Amazon, B&H, Adorama) at a price of $799 / €590.
