Activision has just teased something that might completely steal the show at Gamescom 2014, revealing a trailer that shows the logo of old-time publisher Sierra, most likely indicating that it's making a comeback.

The famed 1990s adventure publisher is seemingly getting resurrected by parent Activision, after having been put to sleep in 2008. The video was launched via the newly minted Sieera.com website and accompanying YouTube channel, with the words "Gamescom 2014" appearing after the trailer plays.

The website domain was registered by Activision, the publisher owns Sierra, the production values seems to be legit, so this most likely means that Sierra is making a comeback.

The news comes from SpikeTV's Geoff Keighley, who was the among the first to pick up on the site's launch.

Activision owns Sierra and all related properties thanks to the Vivendi Games merge back in 2008, but so far the publisher hasn't done anything with the label.

There have been some subtle signs that the Sierra brand might be coming back, such as Telltale Games dropping plans to make a King's Quest game last year, most likely due to Activision needing its license back in order to launch the game through Sierra.

In case the name Sierra doesn't cause you to instantly go for a trip down memory lane, it was responsible for some pretty good adventure games, including King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Quest for Glory, Gabriel Knight and Leisure Suit Larry, as well as Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
