Sienna Storm is an upcoming espionage thriller merged with a card game, that comes with some high-profile pedigree in the form of Sheldon Pacotti, a writer on Deus Ex and its sequel Invisible War.

The game has been in the works for a while, and developer Digital Knights took to Kickstarter to raise the necessary funds to make Sienna Storm a reality.

Pacotti has been building the game together with Darrell Hardy, who worked on Magic: The Gathering Tactics, and Tony Evans, who has experience working on popular titles such as Neverwinter Nights 2 and Knights of the Old Republic 2.

The teaser video features art from the game, establishing the general mood of the upcoming title. Each of the comic-style scenes is hand-drawn with multiple action points that players can follow in order to progress through the storyline, and there are dialogue trees and a lot of decisions to make.

The action scenes in the upcoming Sienna Storm make use of a card mechanic that introduces a level of depth, strategy and character building to the game, with players modifying their deck at the start of each match, to better suit the situation at hand.

Persuasion will play as much a role as deduction in the upcoming thriller, in which players go around the world to infiltrate, fight and recruit influential targets and gain reputation with different parties.

The plot kicks off with the game's protagonist, a former black ops operative, stumbling upon a murder conspiracy, and upon further investigation, discovering that the entire thing is much bigger than he had initially suspected.

Sienna Storm is a tale of espionage, with a non-linear branching story set in modern day, where every action has a variety of different outcomes, based on your actions and decisions.

The game is designed to play as an interactive comic-style video game, with 2D animations and card game mechanics meant to spruce things up and get players more engaged in the game experience.

For the time being, the development team is hoping to launch Sienna Storm on PC, but if enough money is raised through the campaign, there are also stretch goals for a Mac edition. Furthermore, one of the other stretch goals includes Chris Avellone, the famous designer from Obsidian Entertainment, joining the team as a creative consultant.

The team aims to raise a total of $179k / €135k, with 28 more days to go in the campaign.
