The British actress is no longer the female lead in “Nottingham”

In what is clearly a streak of bad luck for the British actress, reports in the media have it that she can now add another professional snub to her long list. Apparently, Sienna Miller has been dumped from the upcoming “Nottingham,” where she was supposed to play Maid Marian, for making co-star Russell Crowe look too bad, but also because of her reputation in the tabloids.

Sienna was supposed to play Crowe’s love interest in Ridley Scott’s upcoming Robin Hood remake but, since she’s more on the thin side and the “Gladiator” star has not yet lost the weight he gained for his previous part, the duo was deemed an unfortunate one and Miller was let go. This can’t but come as a heavy blow to the actress, who, at the time of getting the part, reportedly said that she “could not have a better part... it’s happening. It’s the most exciting news in the world.”

“It is a mess. Russell never lost the weight he put on […] and so the love scenes between him and Sienna would have been laughable. He’s so old and fat and she’s so young and gorgeous.” one source told the New York Post of the £110 million remake. Moreover, the same spy explained, since losing all that extra weight is out of the question for Russell, the only way out was to ditch Sienna, and “look for an older, plumper actress to play the role so Crowe doesn’t look like a paunchy grandpa. Someone in her late ‘30s or early ‘40s.”

However, other reports have it that Sienna might have lucked out on what would have certainly been her vehicle to international fame because of her party-girl reputation as well. “Sienna’s image just wasn’t right, especially after her controversial affair with [married billionaire] Balthazar Getty.” another in-the-know source told the media.

While Miller’s representative would not comment on why precisely the actress left the project, it is believed that “Nottingham” could have helped her attain A-list status in the blink of an eye. “Once you’ve been in a Ridley Scott film as Russell Crowe’s love interest, there is no looking back. The offers would have come flooding in.” as the New York Post insider points out, stressing that this is also why Sienna is now filled with regrets.

The name of the actress who will take Miller’s place has not yet been made public, but production for the film has already been set back from February to April. For more on this, keep an eye on this space.
