Sienna Miller's latest movie, 'Factory Girl', proved quite a challenge for the woman who until now was rather known for being the on-and-off girlfriend of handsome Jude Law and
his co-star in 'Alfie'. First of all, she had her lines to learn and then, to lose a lot of weight to be able to play the drug addicted character of Edie Sedgwick.
'Factory Girl' tells the story of Sedgwick, Andy Warhol's muse, the 'It' girl of the '60s. She began as an actress and model and soon became an emblem and a genuine icon of her time but, unfortunately, she died at the age of 28 from overdosing on barbiturates. In her short live, she was linked not only to Warhol but also to Bob Dylan, the late Jim Morrison from The Doors and Sir Mick Jagger.
Seeing that she would have to portray such a rock and roll character got Sienna thinking about a proper diet to lose a couple of pounds, especially as Sedgwick was also a known addict who suffered from depression and bulimia.
But, instead of starving herself like so many other actresses and models out there or of just eating one apple a day, the 24-year-old Miller came up with another idea of something to burn down all the calories: vodka.
A true wine-lover, the actress admits that she was forced to give it up for a while but she did find a suitable replacement for it. So, instead of having a glass of wine with her meal, she had a shot of vodka and it worked wonders, she says. Not only did the liquor help her lose the pounds, but it also gave her that ghastly appearance that she wanted her character to have.
So, leaving aside all that sacrifice everything for art stuff, there is only one thing we could say about this: Hollywood is, indeed, filled with excellent role models!
