Sidux 2007-04, codename "Eros", was released for both amd64 and i686 architectures and it is available in two flavors: a 445 MB KDE lite and a 680 MB full version.

Sidux is a Debian Sid based live CD, focused on hard disk installations, with a clean upgrade path within Sid and additional hardware and software support. The distribution is enhanced with its own packages and scripts.

The fourth release of Sidux changed a lot from previous versions (possibly because the distribution is approaching its first anniversary). The kernel was upgraded to version 2.6.23 and support for some new wlan cards is brought to the user, thanks to the new updated mac80211 wlan stack and drivers. Sidux Eros concentrates also on X.Org 7.3 / xrandr 1.2 and X detection related changes.

The developers worked hard to improve the advanced USB installation, kernel stabilization and the live persistency network, also offering a lot of translations.

Some of the features included in Sidux 2007-04 are:

- KDE 3.5.8 - available in English and German. - X.Org 7.3 - is now compatible with AMD64 and equipped with new probing abilities. - A new USB from ISO Installer is introduced to the users. - The Sidux art team worked hard for the new release and produced beautiful artwork. - For English and German speakers, there's an offline manual which can be used directly from the disc, while for other languages the manuals are available online at http://manual.sidux.com, or through apt. - Improved hardware support libraries, and fw-detect will probe hardware with non-free needs. - Broadcom, RealTek wlan cards now have enhanced support. - Support for VirtualBox-ose-guest got included. - Problems related to booting for VIA C7 CPUs were fixed.

Many more other issues were repaired, while some features got overhauled. Maybe Sidux Eros will make you fall in love with it and install it on your system.
