From June

The popular Sidekick Slide from T-Mobile will apparently be launched soon in a new version. A red one, more exactly, to go hand in hand with the hot summer that is to come.

According to Boy Genius Report, T-Mo will offer the red Slide starting June, or even May, which would be a good thing for those who want the handset but don't like its current color versions.

Manufactured by Motorola, Sidekick Slide was first released in November 2007, and it had some battery problems in the first weeks, which forced T-Mobile to recall all the devices sold. Anyway, everything was fixed and Sidekick Slide was back on sale at the beginning of December.

The handset's highlight is the fact that it can slide in an unusual way, unveiling a full QWERTY keypad that makes text input a very easy and quick thing to do. Aside from that, Sidekick Slide doesn't pack too many advanced features. The Moto slider comes with quad-band GSM connectivity, a 240 x 320 pixels TFT display with 65k colors, email, Instant Messaging, WAP 2.0 browser, Music player, Bluetooth 2.0, miniUSB and a 1.3 Megapixel camera. Weighing 5.29 ounces (150 grams) and measuring 4.7 x 2.4 x 0.7 inches (119.4 x 61 x 17.8 mm), T-Mobile Sidekick Slide includes an 1130 mAh Li-Ion battery that should keep the device functional for up to 7 hours in talk-time mode and up to 156 hours in stand-by mode.

Sidekick Slide is currently priced at $199.99, after a mail-in rebate, so the rumored red device will probably be offered by T-Mo for the same price, or even for less, since the handset is not quite a new one. Or, in case T-Mobile decides to include HSDPA connectivity in the red Sidekick Slide, to work on its soon-to-be-launched 3G network, the handset will be a bit more expensive, of course. We'll see.
