If you are one of those people who gets irritated when you see a real-world ad when you play futuristic games like Battlefield 2142, there is a way now of disabling those ads and billboards.

This information appeared on an ActionTrip forum, alongside some instructions on how the ads can be blocked. Goya, Lance Corporal Silver on the ActionTrip forum, explains how to get rid of Battlefield 2142 in-game advertising.

According to his post, if you run Battlefield 2142 alongside software like TDImon free TCP/UDP monitor, you will realize that one of the remote connections used by Battlefield 2142 is 72.3.184.153:17475. If you use the WHOIS option on this IP address, you will find out that the IP address is registered to IGA Technologies. If you don't know by now IGA Technologies, it's the same as IGA Worldwide, the company that handles the in-game ads.

The exact message upon giving a WHOIS to the IP address is the following: IGA Technologies, LLC RSPC-68993-1122139655 (NET-72-3184-144-1) 72.3.184.144-72.3.184.159. A possible solution to avoid in-game ads is to block port 17475 or to block IP address range 72.3.184.144-72.3.184.159.

Goya did just that and according to his post, the game ran just fine and said that he'll make further investigation to see if the advertising company is using other ports and addresses.
