SiS announced that it entered a partnership with the computer hardware manufacturer and vendor MSI to mass produce a mainboard based on the SiS671 chipset. This new mainboard will be called MS-7317 and it is designed for the lower end and mainstream markets, offering customers the possibility to buy a best in class product for a good price.

The MS-7317 motherboard supports Intel's Core 2 Duo processors that use the 800MHz frontside bus and single channel DDR2 memory with a maximum capacity of 4GB that runs at a clock speed of 667MHz. The SiS671 chipset features an integrated graphics engine, the Mirage 3, which is fully compliant with the DirectX 9.0 specifications and can smoothly operate with Microsoft's Windows Vista. As the integrated Mirage 3 engine comes with SiS' Real Video technology, computer systems build around the MS-7317 motherboard will be able to "deliver fluent image quality under Windows Vista".

The SiS671 Nortbridge is backed up by SiS' 968 Southbridge chipset, which supports the PCI Express x1 interface and additionally it can work with up to two Serial ATA high-speed connectors for modern day hard disk and optical drives that are capable of high speed data transmissions and this in addition to a regular Parallel ATA controller for older model drives. A high definition sound system is incorporated too and the mainboard will feature a high speed Internet connection thanks to the 0/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet port.

"The SiS671 chipset has been used in numerous customers' products. We can even say that it has the ability to power the system, which covers laptops and desktops. We foresee that the performance of the MSI's MS-7317 motherboard will catch the attention of the mainstream market and become one of the most valuable products" said Daniel Chen, chief executive officer of SiS, who was cited in his company's press release concerning this product.
