SiS announced that the SiS671FX chipset, which integrates the Mirage 3 graphics solution, has been implemented in the ASUS P5S-MX SE
motherboard.
ASUS, as one of the leaders of motherboard industry, seems to appreciate the SiS671FX chipset as the motherboard chosen for it is one of ASUS' top products. Supporting FSB 1066/800/533 Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium D, Pentium 4 and Celeron processors, this motherboard uses DDR2-667 and allows for up to 5.4GB/s of data bandwidth.
SiS' proprietary HyperStreaming technology will optimize the entire system, managing the data flow between the NorthBridge and the SouthBridge, the peripherals and the core logic. The Mirage 3 graphics engine is integrated into the chipset and it supports 2D and 3D.
The SiS671FX also supports one PCI-Ex slot which will allow users to expand the graphics capabilities of their system with a more powerful video card if need be. The PCI-Ex supports up to 4GB/s of data bandwidth in both directions, so new graphics cards will work at their full potential.
The ASUS P5S-MX SE uses the SiS968 that supports the PCI-Ex 1x interface, while providing two high speed SATA ports and RAID0/1. Users can play their favorite music and enjoy the Dolby digital and surrounding sound provided by SiS968's 6-channel High Definition Audio.
For the network environment, the SiS968 comes with a 10/100Mbps Ethernet controller, while the S/PDIF provides perfect connection between PC and some home entertainment devices.
