Shuttle PC, a vendor of small form factor desktop PCs, has just announced the launch of a new AMD-based mini-PC, designed to take advantage of the performance features of AMD's latest AM3-socket platform. Dubbed SA76G2, the small form factor PC can provide users with support for up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM memory, while the backward compatibility of AMD's Socket AM3 will enable support for AM2 and AM2+ processors.

The new desktop PC from Shuttle has been built inside a black, polished aluminum chassis, measuring just 30 x 20 x 18.5 cm (DxWxH). This compact desktop computer system is designed around AMD's RS760/SB710 chipset platform, enabling support for AMD's latest processors, including AM2, AM2+ and AM3. In addition, it can support an impressive 8GB of DDR2 RAM, while the on-board ATI Radeon 3000 graphics can deliver support for DirectX 10 applications and up to four connected monitors at once.

Coming in the form of a barebone PC, the SA76G2 enables users to fully customize their desktop configuration, increasing system performance through a discrete PCI-Express 2.0-compatible Radeon graphics card. This will allow them to take advantage of AMD's SurroundView technology. Additional features include up to six USB 2.0 ports, audio in/out, PS2, VGA and DVI connectivity and a 250W power supply unit. The mainboard also provides support for an additional four USB 2.0 ports, two COM ports, one parallel and one S/PDIF digital audio out.

Available for as little as 191 EUR, the new Shuttle desktop can provide users with a choice for a low-power, fully-capable desktop PC that doesn't take up too much room and should fit in almost any home. Considering its overall specifications and pricing, it can be taken as a serious competitor for some of the nettops available on the market.
