Shuttle, like so many other companies, did not pass the chance of showing up at Computex and putting on display its newest products, one of them being an item which is so new that it won't become available for a while.

Consumer electronics trade shows, or IT events of any other, act as a stage where companies from around the world can put on display whatever they wish.

In other words, many products get officially released at such conferences, while some others get previewed, their own availability scheduled for later.

The Shuttle R4 Series mini PC series can easily be said to fit into the latter category, what with it being set to debut later this year (2011).

Essentially, it is a series of mini desktop PCs, nettops as it were, or, more precisely, a pair of barebone mini PCs featuring the I.C.E. cooling system.

Being barebones, they don't feature the full spectrum of PC hardware parts, being restricted to just the case, platform and connectivity, to some extent anyway.

Still, even from this one can at least deduce the performance range the two systems will fit in once they eventually start shipping.

The first of them, bearing the name of SH61R4, has a mini ITX H61 motherboard, which is based on the Intel Sandy Bridge LGA 1155 chipset.

Meanwhile, the SA76R4 will have support for AMD AM3 and AM3+ central processing units, meaning that its potential is more or less the same as that of its sibling.

Other specifications, which the two share, include USB 3.0 connectivity and aluminum cases with a customizable front.

Unfortunately, just like the exact date of shipment was not provided, neither is there any sort of information on what the R4 series will cost. Either way, depending on what their buyers equip them with, they can become quite capable compact desktops.
