Small form factor (SFF for short) computers are popular nowadays as home entertainment stations and the computer hardware manufacturer and vendor Shuttle is specialized in just this sort of machines. Now, for the first time ever, Shuttle decided to launch one of its mini computers centered around the AMD computing platform.

The Shuttle XPC Glamor SN68PTG5 and the more powerful Shuttle XPC Glamor SN68PTG6 Deluxe are mini format computers based on the AMD platform. They use the AMD processors, users being able to choose their preferred model from: AMD Athlon 64 X2, Athlon 64 and Sempron series. The AMD centered XPCs can use a maximum of 4GB of DDR2 system memory in dual channel configuration and with a clock frequency up to 1066MHz. The mainboard is centered around the Nvidia chipset and around the AM2 processor socket which allows for a greater expandability as AMD will launch its next generation of multi core processors intended for desktop use to be compatible with the AM2 socket.

The mainboard chipset is the NVIDIA nForce 630a with integrated NVIDIA GeForce 7050 PV graphics solution that is able to deliver high definition graphics thanks to its NVIDIA PureVideo technology that can produce better quality images. On the sound departments, every computer from the Shuttle XPC Glamor series comes equipped with Dolby Digital Live! and DTS 7.1 sound processors that are the perfect match for the high definition video graphics produced by the HDMI/ HDCP compliant graphics card. Both Shuttle XPC SN68PTG5 and SN68PTG6 Deluxe can operate with a dual display setup.

For those users with access to a wireless network, Shuttle included a WiFi 802.11b/g networking card for easy file sharing or multimedia streaming. On the Deluxe series, the manufacturing company also included support for Bluetooth version 2.0+EDR as well as USB Speed-Link Technology for achieving faster data transferring speeds between USB compliant devices and the host computer system.

A wired networking card, a Gigabit LAN, is found in both computer models as well as two FireWire ports and six USB version 2.0 together with two Serial ATA II controllers and another two external Serial ATA, eSATA, ports. As expansion slots, the Shuttle computers come with a PCI-E X16 and one traditional PCI slot. As a security feature, the Deluxe model also offers a fingerprint reader for enhanced security and privacy.
