Demonoid back to life

Demonoid was one of the most popular names on the BitTorrent websites industry, with an impressive number of daily users that helped the page grow up. Although all these aspects predicted a successful future for the website, it was 100% different from what the administrators were expecting: Demonoid got shut down after copyright holders around the world accused the page for distributing and promoting illegal material, making pressure to close the service.

However, Demonoid is alive again after the website got back online for what seems to be the first revival of a popular BitTorrent service that was shut down after legal disputes. For those of you who don't know, some other trackers, including here TorrentSpy, were closed after copyright holders sent them to court.

A message posted on the Demonoid website informs that the page was closed due to lack of time required for maintenance and not for legal problems as it was previously announced.

"Since a few months ago, Deimos, the site administrator, lacks the necessary time to take care of the website, because of personal matters he's been needing to attend to. For this reason, he has decided to leave the site staff. Before leaving, he assigned a new site administrator from among his friends to take care of the site. The old moderator team will continue helping with the site, unchanged. We will try to keep running everything just as it always has been. The trackers and website seem to be working properly, and should any issues arise, they will be taken care of as soon as possible. The site might be going on and offline over the next days as we work out any problems," it is mentioned in the notification.

So, no word on the legal dispute with CRIA, which forced the administrators to take the website offline... But here's what Demonoid's site informed in November 2007, "The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding".
