In May last year, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the world seemed to have suddenly ended for the petite singer. But, with the help of her family, boyfriend French actor Olivier
Martinez and her loyal fans, Kylie Minogue managed to live through the ordeal and to make her career rise again from the ashes.
Also last year, the singer was forced to cancel the Australian leg of her tour, 'Showgirl Homecoming', as she immediately underwent severe treatment for cancer. At the time, both she and her tour manager announced that, no matter how long it would take to recuperate, she would be returning to play for her fans.
Over the weekend, Kylie made the first step towards keeping her promise and flew back to her native country to start the preparations for the tour. In December, she will be back on the road, playing six dates at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena, three at the Sydney Entertainment Center and five other gigs at major venues in Australia.
The fact that all this time Kylie became more and more involved in her music comes as no surprise to those who really know her. Not only did she get back into the recording studio to work on a brand new album, but she also got really involved in all that the 'Homegirl' tour implied and lend a hand in the creation of her latest fragrance, inspired from her traumatic experience and the new-found joie de vivre, 'Darling'.
'I'm happy to be home – just thrilled to be back. I feel really inspired, more than I have for quite a while. I am not a year out of recovery and I'm recording and doing photo shoots, and we've filmed new stuff for the screens for the show. I've hardly stopped', a smiling and radiant Kylie told the media gathered to welcome her at the Sydney airport.
