Sprint's new and fancy Samsung Instinct touchscreen handset, released on June 20 as an "iPhone defeater", can make you super-happy and $10,000 richer. The conditions? You have to be a Sprint customer and make a short clip that has to feature a Samsung Instinct.

The first 1,000 users who upload (on YouTube) such an Instinct-esque video receive 20 bucks from Sprint and enter a competition that has, as final prize, the above-mentioned $10,000. The undoubtedly attractive amount of money will be offered to the author of the video considered by Sprint to be the best - but we're not sure on what criteria this "best" is judged.

Anyway, the Instinct contest will only debut on June 30, as Sprint is apparently waiting a few days in order to allow more users to buy its new Samsung handset.

And speaking of buying, Instinct is priced at $129.99, but only with a contract agreement for two years, a data plan of at least $69.99 per month and after a mail-in rebate. This price is lower than the one of Apple's iPhone 3G, which will be released in the US exclusively from AT&T, for $199 (the 8GB version), with a similar two-year contract that includes a data plan.

In terms of features, the Instinct is not too different than the iPhone 3G, save for the size of its touchscreen, the User Interface and the internal memory, which are all in favor of the new iPhone. But the Instinct has its advantages, like the ability to send and receive MMS (which is missing on Apple's handset) or a camera with video recording.

In the end, Samsung Instinct is a viable alternative to the iPhone 3G, especially for users who don't want to sign with AT&T (this is the first condition for getting a new iPhone). Plus, Sprint's $10,000 contest makes the Instinct really attractive.
