14 DAY TRIAL // Developer Yacht Club Games has announced Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, a free upcoming update for the highly popular old-school platformer.
The 2D side-scrolling platform video game has been lauded for the faithful way it mimics the color palette and specific gameplay mechanics of classic Nintendo Entertainment System games.
The Plague of Shadows update will enable gamers to play as the Plague Knight, the villainous master of alchemy, seeking to create the ultimate potion.
Gamers will have to extract the ingredients from their former allies, the members of the Order of No Quarter.
Yacht Club Games promises their fans a new story, new bosses, and a completely new play style for them to enjoy.
Fans of the original will be able to see things from a completely new perspective, stepping into the shoes of the explosive trickster in his quest to overthrow the knights of the Order of No Quarter in order to become the ultimate alchemist.
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows is slated to come out during the second quarter of 2015, for free.

Furthermore, the developer has also announced that Shovel Knight will become available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita platforms from Sony, on April 21.
The title has been a pretty big hit on PC, OS X, Linux, and on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles, and now it's headed to even more consoles.
The studio made sure to integrate the specifics of each new platforms within the game, such as the back touch controls on the PS Vita, and has also announced that the game will be cross-buy enables between the three platforms.
Evidently, this means that Shovel Knight will also support cross-save between Sony's devices, which means that you'll be able to enjoy it on your favorite system and continue where you left off when switching.
