Shotwell is the default image editor in Ubuntu and one of the most simple and straightforward image editor and organizer app that can be found on the Linux platform.

The developers have announced that a new version of Shotwell is now awailable, 0.11.3, which fixes two critical bugs. It is recommended that all users upgrade their current versions immediately.

The first bug relates to image import (Shotwell uses it's own image database when editing images in order to keep the originals safe). The software no longer crashes at the end of photo imports where one or more files failed to import correctly.

Shotwell also crashed when a new tag containing a slash (“/”) character was created by context-clicking on the “Tags” item in the sidebar and choosing “New”. This problem has been fixed.
