Armbands are normally used to preserve health or take health readings, but wearable technology has been evolving nicely over the past couple of years. The ShotTracker is a result of that phenomenon.

ShotTracker may not be the most inventive name, but it does accurately illustrate what the device can do for you.

Once you've pulled it over your arm (it covers it from the wrist to the shoulder), the armband will communicate to establish connection with a device mounted on the inside of a basketball hoop.

Between the two of them, the armband and the hoop attachment will record your performance and even indicate how you can improve it if necessary.

The sensor attached to the hoop net is weatherproof and uses a rechargeable battery, but only activates when the user starts shooting, for efficiency.

As for the band itself, it has another sensor that weighs only 0.35 oz (9.9 g). With each shot fired, the wrist sensor tells the net sensor that a ball is coming. That allows the net sensor to record the hit or miss.

The data is collected and analyzed by your smartphone, via a companion app. It records shot attempts, shot successes,  shooting percentages and even compiles a shot map. Based on them, training drills are suggested.

The price of the ShotTracker is $150 / €150. The package includes the net sensor, the wrist sensor, the band, the sleeve and the charging unit.
