The incident was caught on camera, and soon enough, the video made it online. The footage in question is available below, but be warned, it is not for the faint of heart.

Thus, this latest viral video contains scenes of violence and language that some might find offensive. Hence, viewer discretion is recommended when watching it.

Why the teenager attacked his teacher

It is understood that this incident played out last Thursday at the John F. Kennedy High School in the city of Paterson in New Jersey. The educator who got pinned to the floor teaches physics and is 62 years old.

According to the police officers in charge of handling this case, the 16-year-old boy got terribly angry when his teacher confiscated his phone during Thursday's physics class.

In an attempt to get his favorite gadget back, the 9th grade student attacked his 62-year-old educator. The physics teacher managed to hold his ground for a while but eventually found himself pinned to the floor.

Before wrestling him to the floor, the 16-year-old boy grabbed the elderly physics teacher by the waist and even went as far as to slam him into a desk as hard as he could.

What's truly disturbing is that, although some of the students who witnessed the clash shouted at the attacker and asked him to stop, nobody intervened and tried to break up the fight.

“Maybe they were afraid, I don't know,” Peter Tirri, president of the Paterson Education Association, the teachers union, commented on this incident in an interview, as cited by DM.

What's going to happen to the 16-year-old ?

As mentioned, it was on Thursday that the 62-year-old teacher in Paterson, New Jersey got beaten up by the teenager. The following day, police officers showed up at the boy's door and took him into custody.

In the aftermath of this fight, the boy was suspended from the John F. Kennedy High School. Besides, the 16-year-old student now stands accused of assault. Seeing how he is a minor, it is unclear whether or not he will be sentenced to time in jail.
