According to an agreement, ShoZu is to provide its mobile media services to customers of Austrian mobile network provider Hutchinson 3G Austria, initially offered for free download on the carrier's mobile portal and as a pre-istalled application on selected phones. ShoZu is a free service for mobile phones that makes it easy for the user to send and receive multimedia content.

At first, 2Austria subscribers will be able to use ShoZu's one click 'Share-it' service that allows the upload of photos and video directly from their phones to the carrier's photo album community. This means that users will not need to use a PC, other upload methods or to interrupt the normal use of the phone in order to upload the content. Image uploads to 3FotoAlbum are free as part of the subscriber's flat-rate data package.

Later on, another service will be added. Through the 'ZuCast' service videos, photos, music and other content will be automatically delivered on the mobile phone. ShoZu's proprietary data replication technology enables the files to be downloaded in the background which is why the user will not need to open a mobile phone browser, interrupt phone calls or wait for web pages to load.

The service provides a quick and easy way to download custom content without using anything other than a mobile phone or having to browse the web in order to download it. It's also an advantage and it's profitable for mobile operators who will be offering a wide range of multimedia services through a single gateway and a single application on the phone. ShoZu currently supports 95 handsets including Java, Symbian and Windows Mobile powered devices.

"Mobile subscribers today are looking for an easy bridge between their camera phones and the online world. ShoZu offers a fast, user-friendly solution that will be especially attractive for members of our 3FotoAlbum community," said Berthold Thoma, CEO of 3Austria. "We believe this will help us attract new subscribers, drive sales and upgrades of data bundles, and continue to build our market share."
